Teens Open Studio - All Levels of Experience Max 12 Students
The Teen course is designed for late primary and early high school students to stretch their visual art practice, develop skills, and explore techniques in a professional studio environment. While many of our young students come for fun, some students use the class to build a portfolio of work or for guidance when entering their first exhibition!

What to Expect
This art class is for students late primary and from Year 7 to Year 12 at High School (aged 8 -16 years) with a strong interest in visual arts. A great class for kids wishing to pursue secondary level visual art and who really want to learn much more about art-making, art history, refine and extend their skills in painting and drawing. Students will be encouraged to develop creative thinking and their own visual style.
Through structured exercises, students will:

  • learn foundation skills in drawing and painting

  • explore more advanced visual art concepts

  • produce a portfolio of completed artworks

  • All art materials provided

About
My class sizes are small, ensuring all students receive the individual tuition they need. We have a maximum of 12 students per class. For kids and teen classes, art materials are included in the fee.

Ashley Frost (Bachelor of Fine Arts), has taught and was artist in residence at The Kings School Parramatta, The Shore School Sydney, Abbotsleigh Girls School Wahroonga, PLC Sydney and Reddam House Sydney. He taught art theory at Wollongong University and runs regular adult and term classes in Sydney and Wollongong.

Adult Open Studio - All Levels of Experience Max 12 Students
This course will be about discovering gesture and colour in the landscape through a mix of compositional drawings, monotype works and mixed media colour studies. The drawings and prints will provide the foundation and direction for a more sustained watercolour, acrylic or oil painting on canvas or board. We will explore the compositions of the great masters and examine the colour expression of the Japanese printmakers through to the impressionists and abstract expressionists.

What Students will Achieve
Students will gain skills in understanding composition, tonal design and colour harmony through research drawing practice. This practical approach to research drawing and colour studies will enable students to discover gestural elements and colour nuances in landscape painting.

Testimonials
"Ash Frost is a very thoughtful, generous and dedicated teacher. I think his approach is perfect for any level but especially for beginners (I started as a beginner last year). He has the rare ability to give feedback and advice that lands positively every time. The atmosphere in Ash’s classes is open and supportive; I got a lot from being a part of the group. The experience provides something that goes beyond the actual practice of putting paint on canvas."
