Art Tours, Classes and Workshops

Teaching Background
I have been teaching in Australia and internationally for over thirty years. Beginning at the University of Wollongong teaching Art Theory in Creative Arts, I then moved to set up his company Theme Media, where I offered artist residencies to Australian and international artists in Antarctica and the Arctic. I also participated in residencies to Antarctica and the Arctic teaching painting and photography aboard expedition ships in the Polar regions. For the last six years, I have taught painting, drawing and printmaking to adults and teens at ArtEst art school in Sydney, Waverley Art School, Hazelhurst Arts Centre and Lane Cove Gallery. In addition to term classes I run art workshops at Bundanon Trust in the Shoalhaven and Fowlers Gap in regional NSW. I have been the resident artist at The Shore School in Sydney and PLC Croydon and participated in visiting artist programs teaching at The King's School, Abbotsleigh and Reddam House in Sydney.

ArtEst Closing Down
As of February 2025 after 17 years of art education, Art Est. is closing its doors. I am deeply saddened by the news and my heart goes out to the many students who I have taught and who have in return have inspired my whole approach to art making. In response I have been able to start classes in Wollongong, however classes in Sydney are difficult due to a lack of affordable space.
If you are a former student and interested I am running a Zoom class on Saturdays 930am - 130pm for adult classes. If you are interested please email me here, or click the link below. In addition I can arrange private consultation for students either in person or via Zoom, please reach out to me via email if you are interested or click the link below.

Fowlers Gap Art Expedition 14-21 July 2025

Painting, Drawing and Ceramics with Artist Ashley Frost and Ceramicist Lyndy Marshall

Join leading Australian contemporary landscape painter Ashley Frost and ceramicist and sculptor Lyndy Marshall on a 7 day painting adventure and wilderness experience to the remote arid zone of Western New South Wales.

The 7 day workshop focuses on painting, drawing and painting ceramics directly from nature. Participants will improve their skills under the guidance of Ashley Frost who is an artist and experienced art educator. During the workshop Ashley will expose students to a variety of ideas and approaches with a mix of teaching demonstrations as well as informal discussions over meals in the evenings. Topics discussed include composition, colour, content, influences and the illusion of space. Learn and develop new skills in a beautiful and relaxed environment. Students will be able to set up their own studio space within the Quarters main hall with access from 6am-9pm each day.

The tour will include painting workshops, artist talks, museum and gallery tours as well as plein air painting on long Island and in New York City. The tour will take us historic artist studios in Long Island, to the great galleries of New York City including the Whitney Museum, the Met and the MOMA.
